Happy Twenty-twenty

As I wrote these lines lying under my quilt 

The hands of the clock quickly struck twelve

Into the New Year, time made its way 

Here I come to wish you in my own way-- 

Ceaseless enthusiasm be your alter-ego 

Regardless of the times -- high or low 

Abiding vigour be your best array

Irrespective of the circumstances -- bright or gray

Uncompromising spirit be your guiding force 

When the path you are trudging along 

Takes an undesirable course

Wishing you all a very successful Twenty-twenty

May the reasons of your happiness be several and plenty !

You have a long way to go

When there is so much to say

I practise restraint instead

Telling myself-- let the time lead

And pushing myself from within

Try to win over the world with your deed

At times, you may be ignored and left aside

But from them, derive only positives 

And take a long stride

You have really a long way to go

So a few belittlements in the way

Should not put you at low
